Shelter

Basic Shelter

Where we were then

It is estimated that over 40% of the population in Haiti is homeless. We believe everyone, especially children, need a basic roof over their heads. Thanks to generous supporters, we have been able to build a basic home for children to find protection from the outside elements.

Where we are now

Not only have we been able to provide a safe place for the children to sleep, but these homes have provided a job for the Haitian workers. All the blocks for the walls and wood and tin for the roof have been provided from local companies right in Haiti. Local Haitian carpenters as are the ones doing the work to construct the buildings.

Where we are going

The dorm is currently way over capacity. More land has been acquired and were are in the process raising funds to build a 2 story multi purpose building. The top floor will house the boys and the lower level will be used for more school rooms. The girls will be housed in the newly constructed house that is currently being shared by the boys.

We are also raising funds for some solar power to run a few lights. This will provide better security at night for the children.
